Android closed test

Help test Voice Inbox

Join the Google Play closed test.

Voice Inbox is not a public Google Play release yet. Follow all four steps below with the same Google account to become eligible, install the app, and help validate it on real Android devices.

Before you start
  • An ARM64 device running Android 7.0 or later.
  • About 704 MiB of free storage for speech-model installation.
  • A suitable network connection for the normal model download, which is about 640 MiB.

Enrollment

Complete these steps in order.

Check your Google account

Make sure the account that joined the group is also the active account in Google Play on the Android device where you want to install Voice Inbox.

Become a tester

Open the Voice Inbox testing opt-in page and accept the invitation. Google may need a short time to update your access after you join the group.

Install Voice Inbox

After opting in, open the Voice Inbox Google Play listing and install or update the app. The listing remains restricted to eligible testers during the closed test.

One important request

Please stay enrolled for at least 14 continuous days.

Google Play evaluates sustained closed-test participation. Please keep Voice Inbox installed or remain opted in and do not leave the testing program during this 14-day period. You do not need to use the app every day.

What to test

A short, useful test pass

  • Download the speech model, or install it from a compatible local model folder.
  • Create a new output document or choose an existing .txt or .md file.
  • Import an audio file and, if convenient, share a voice message to Voice Inbox from another app.
  • Transcribe an audio task and confirm that text is appended to the output document.
  • Leave and reopen Voice Inbox, then confirm that setup and task state are restored.
  • Optionally select an audio folder and try the multi-file workflow.

The normal model download needs network access. Once the model is installed, speech recognition runs locally on the device.

Send useful feedback

Use Google Play's private feedback option, or reply through the same channel where you received this invitation. If something fails, include your device model, Android version, what you expected, the steps that reproduced the issue, and a screenshot when relevant.

Cannot access the test?

Check that you joined the Google Group and that the same Google account is active in Google Play.

Then reopen the opt-in page before the store listing. If access was just granted, wait a few minutes and try again. Availability can also depend on the current test rollout.
